Quote:"Windsurfing is the pinnacle of sailing sports- the highest tech kit, the world’s greatest sail designers, windsurfers hold the world speed records and would beat any boat around any race course. We can even back and forward loop, we don’t need to rely on crew or clubs, we can sail all year round for free, we can travel the world. We are the ultimate surfing sport- all the world’s best windsurfers are accomplished surfers, we ride the biggest waves, the gnarliest sections and do the biggest jumps. We have the greatest sport on earth. There’s lots of watersports you can buy into, but windsurfing is about you, the ocean and the weather- you can’t buy it, you learn it. "Guy Cribb, 12 times british champion

Sunrise to Sunset Venue![]() Sunrise Sunset 2009 is the first major fundraising event from the new charity, Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research (W4CR). This fun event will take place on the 3rd May 2009, the Bank Holiday Sunday. On this date you are asked to join many hundreds of windsurfers, kitesurfers, speedsailors or other sailors around the country who have registered, been getting sponsorship and will be sailing during the day (at their own local location or at Hayling Island). You can register to take part, receive information and learn more about the event and the venues across the country, and now Europe! The event is free to enter but early registration is recommended so that your free sail/car logo stickers can be despatched. It will also allow you time to raise £25.00 in sponsorship to be eligible for the FREE PRIZE DRAW. As the Bank Holiday weekend is also the start of National Windsurfing Week 2009 why not encourage your friends/ family to have a go at this great sport (or just turn out to watch). The main venue will be at Hayling Island where some of the top windsurfers, like Dave White will be on the water from "sunrise". However you do not have to sail throughout the day, just register, get sponsored (from friends and family) and get on the water. There is also a "facebook page" under Sunrise Sunset 2009 (3rd May 2009), and many attendees have added comments! Add yours please. At Hayling low tide on 3rd May is 1243hours which is ideal for a midday sail, if you do not intend to sail from dawn. The sun rises at 0536 hours and sets at 2031 hours. Fifteen hours of sailing for Whitey and co! Please note: The organisers have ordered blue skies and a steady force 3/4 wind to get you planing! Page 1 of 2 EventList powered by schlu.net |
